Kate maintains a studio of violin and viola students in Greensboro and Salisbury, as well as at the Canterbury School in Greensboro, NC as part of their Cougar Quest after school program. She also teaches group classes at Granite Quarry Elementary in Salisbury, NC as part of the Salisbury Symphony After School Strings program.

In lessons, Kate's students study a diverse repertoire including folk and fiddle tunes and pieces written by women and minority composers in addition to classical standards.

​

Performances are a significant part of music study. Regular performances help students learn to focus under pressure and manage their nerves while presenting the fruits of their hard work to their peers. Kate's students regularly perform with the NCMEA regional and Honors Orchestras, their local youth orchestras, and  their school ensembles. Her students that also attend Canterbury regularly perform at morning chapel services.
