About Me
Kate Middel (she/her) is a violist, violinist, strings teacher, and orchestra librarian, and recently chaired the Search Committee for the Salisbury Symphony’s new Music Director.
In Greensboro, she maintains a studio of violin and viola students and offers lessons as part of the Canterbury School’s Cougar Quest. She also teaches group classes with the Salisbury Symphony After School String program in Rowan County, as well as a class of adult beginners. Her students range in age from four years through adults, and she has experience working with students with special needs, including ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, and students with visual impairments. Her students regularly earn placement in All-County Orchestras, NCMEA Regional and Honors Orchestras, and with the their local youth orchestras.
Kate maintains a rigorous performing schedule with symphony orchestras, choral societies, church groups, and for private events across the Carloinas. She currently holds contracts with the Rock Hill Symphony, the Western Piedmont Symphony, as the Salisbury Symphony’s Associate Principal Violist, and as the Principal Violist of the Union Symphony Orchestra.
When she isn’t making or teaching music, Kate can often be found hiking in the woods or working in her veggie garden.
